Baby's Heartbeat
We saw the doctor again July 11. Everyone thought we would find out the baby's sex, but I remembered the doctor saying we would get to hear the baby's heartbeat. I'm at 17 weeks now and knew we could probably tell the sex if the doctor performed another ultrasound, but I wasn't interested in rushing it. Besides, we haven't heard the baby's heartbeat and I was just as excited about hearing it since everyone has described it's sound like an ocean or a washing machine. To us, however, it was different. Joe and I agreed that his/her heartbeat sounded like someone running really fast and hitting the pavement really hard. The nurse counted the beats at 142 a minute. Some say that means the baby will be a girl. As a matter of fact, Holly has Lauren's hearbeat listed in her pregnancy book at 142. Who knows. At this point, the necklace test says boy and the heartbeat says girl, so it could go either way. We set up our anatomical ultrasound on July 28. If the baby is cooperating, Dr. Stephenson will tell us then. We can hardly wait!
