Danica sings Rock-A-Bye Baby and when I sing Jesus Loves me, she’ll say Jesus loves me and bible tells me so. She also sings ring around the rosies and the alphabet song.
Danica's favorite book is a Valentine Book about a dog named Biscuit delivering Valentines. Each time she turns the page, she says Happy Day Biscuit or Happy Day Daisy (the cat’s name is Daisy), Happy Valentine, and says I love you for the last page since the little girl tells Biscuit she loves him. Danica also love the book, Without You. It is a sweet book that explains the life of Daddy Penguin and his baby. Danica loves Baby Penguin and says “Baby Penguin” each time I turn the page. The last page shows mommy returning. Danica says, Mommy, Daddy, baby Penguin. It is so cute!
Danica also loves her first bible and thinks all babies in the book are baby Jesus. I tried to explain Jesus as a man in the following pages, but she just calls him man and won’t call him Jesus. Another funny thing-there is a page with a bible verse and you see children all around the verse. Some are clapping, some have their arms stretched out, but Danica has decided they are going around and around the bible verse… so she sings “Ashes ashes, we all fall down” every time I turn it to that page.
She finally recognizes and says everything in her First Words and Animals books. Our sweet friends, Madison and Amanda, gave her 100 Animals books for Christmas and she knows most of them, however, there are a lot of birds in the book and she calls all birds “birds” no matter what they are (tucan, parrot, etc.)
When she dances, she says “horse” and pretends to straddle a horse. She also says “bunny” and “hop” and wants you to hop like a bunny.
Gymnastics- she walks across the balance beam without holding my hands. She can open and close her legs on the trampoline. She can walk backwards on the balance beam while holding my hands. She has been able to climb a horizontal ladder (slide) for some time. Now, she can climb a vertical ladder like a crab. She can hold on to the bar and pull her legs up to her chest. We are trying to teach her to flip.
She knows all of her primary colors, shapes, and recognizes A and B. Last night, she pointed to and said E.
She likes to pour her milk/juice into her kitchen cups and drink from them. At daycare, she no longer uses a cup with a lid, although I still require her to do it at home since she is more mobile.
She pee-pee in the potty for the first time at preschool. The first time she did it for me was labor day, 2010, but she hasn’t done it since. She hasn’t seemed interested, so I haven’t pushed it. Now that she is 2, we/preschool are pushing it more.
I bought Danica some letters and numbers for her bath. Now she loves to take an “ABC bath” and even asks to take one at random times during the day.
We are really trying to limit You Tube, as we suspect she is addicted. And her favorites are Old Macdonald and Jingle Bells. She also loves Giggle Bellies and Pocoyo.
We like to take Danica to the indoor playground at Burger King. We usually have it all to ourselves. Danica goes to birthday parties at Jumping Parties and we take her to Sonic playground on warm days.
Danica loves Nick Jr. We try to encourage playtime without television, but when she is ready to watch, she’ll say, “Watch TV”. Her absolute favorite show is The Fresh Beat Band and you know she wants to watch them when she says "Fresh Beats".
I bought Danica a tent, but she isn’t into it yet. She only likes it when her daddy uses it to hide from her.
Danica loves yogurt and noodle soup. She still loves fruit and snacks on them throughout the day. She still loves “pillows” marshmallows and she loves, loves, loves pizza! She gets that from her daddy!
She loves loves loves her Carrie Underwood CD, Laurie Berkner Band CD, and loves "Down By the Bay".
