Where Dreams Come True

A couple of months ago, Joe called me to tell me that his boss was sending him to a three-day hazardous waste training- in HILTON HEAD. He asked if I wanted to take time off work and go with him. Absolutely!

But why not take the whole week and make a vacation of it, right? I started planning right away. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to book the hotel for the whole week and stay at the beach or if there was another town I’d like to see. I thought about Savannah or Charleston first (we’ve been to Atlanta twice). But I wanted Danica to do something fun, too. Where do you take a 2 ½ year old and have the best time ever! You go to DISNEY!

And she LOVED it! I was worried that she would be scared of the characters and the rides, but she wasn’t. We had a blast! We stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort Thursday night, went to Downtown Disney and then went to Magic Kingdom on Friday. She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Toy Story so she was so excited to see them. She just started watching Toy Story weeks before our trip and I’m so glad she did, because when we arrived at Downtown Disney and she saw the tinker toy monument and the adult sized Mr. Potato Head- she immediately screamed, “Movie Story, it’s Movie Story” (that’s what she calls it). And I teared up- I was so excited for her! On the way to Florida, we told her that we were going to Mickey Mouse's House, so when we got to Magic Kingdom- she thought the castle was his house (she isn't into Disney Princess' yet).

My sister, Melanie, and her daughter, Kayla, live in Fort Lauderdale- so they met us at the Magic Kingdom and spent the day with us as well.

On the way back home, we did stop in Savannah. We split the trip up so Danica wouldn't have to be in the car for 10 straight hours. We left Saturday after lunch so Danica could take a nap. We arrived in Savannah around 6 p.m. We took Danica to Forsyth park and then went to Riverwalk to eat dinner at Dockside. I loved the cobblestone streets. It was a nice place to spend a couple of hours before heading back home.

There is so much to do at Disney! I can't wait to take Danica again!
