Danica is 31 months old today! It's time for an update! We've been super busy. Danica's sweet friend Nicholas turned 4 this month and had a Dinosaur themed birthday party! His mommy did an awesome job decorating. The party was held outside. There were several pools for the kids, a trampoline, and a sandbox where kids could dig for dinosaurs. Happy Birthday Nicholas- We had a wonderful time!
We've been to several other birthday parties in the past couple of months and Danica has been invited to Jack's (her cousin) birthday party in August. She gets so excited about birthday parties. Once we tell her about the birthday party she has been invited to, all she talks about is going to the birthday party, opening presents, and eating cake. She did this same thing in the days leading up to Ridge, Gracie, and Nicholas' birthday parties. She'll also sing the Happy Birthday song whenever we talk about someone's birthday. And July is full of birthdays, so we have heard it a lot this month. Her cousin, Kayla, turned 16 and her Uncle Travis turned 22. It's even funnier when she sings Happy Birthday to someone and it's not their birthday. I first started to notice her excitement over birthdays when she turned 2. That was the first time she started singing the Happy Birthday song instead of just saying it's so and so's Happy Day. There are several December Birthdays in her preschool class, so they were having a birthday party every time I turned around. And she loved it- especially the cupcakes. So I got her a big cupcake for her birthday since that was all she talked about. She is absolutely in love with birthdays and all the celebrating we do and I adore her for it. As a matter of fact, my birthday was July 20 and the best part of my day was that it was the first time she sang the entire Happy Birthday Song to me. MY baby sang the Happy Birthday song to her mommy. I literally came to tears. One, because she looked right into my eyes and sang every single word and two, it made her seem so grown. It really was a pivotal moment for me- I realized I no longer have a baby.
I worked late on my birthday since it was New Student Orientation day, but I came home to Your Perfect Cake cupcakes and the most perfect night with my hubby and my sweet pea!
Before I go, I want to include some Danica lately. When I tell her about something fun we are going to do- she says, "Oh, cool". It is so funny! I think she got that from Toy Story. Another funny is when she eats something she likes- she'll say, "it's good to me, mommy". When she gets hurt- she says, "I got a boo boo. I need a banade!" (and she says this with her lip literally poking as far out as she can get it). Her new obsession is Barney. Joe and I are Toy Storied out, so we let her watch Barney. I've been singing the Barney song to her since she was born, so she knows the song. But she's only watched Barney at her granddaddy's house a couple of times, so she never really got into him. I'm so tired of Toy Story, I borrowed the Barney DVD when I was over there this weekend. It's time to stock up on new DVD's. I think I'm considering Angelina Ballerina. She still loves ballerinas, so I'm sure she'll enjoy it. One last-since I worked late on my birthday, I missed her gymnastics class. Joe reported that she "skinned the cat" by herself for the first time. I'm so sad I missed it- maybe she'll do it for me tonight!
