Has it really been since Valentine's Day that I last updated my blog? It definitely was a memorable one... that was about the time I discovered we are PREGNANT! Danica is going to be a BIG SISTER! I'm so excited. We are due early November and I just entered my second trimester. The baby is doing good so far and mommy- well, I'm feeling better, how about that? I was only tired with Danica, but have been really sick this time around.
Danica is really excited now, but I had to start slow. When I first told her, I was about 2 months pregnant and told her that God was going to send us a baby and that she was going to be a big sister. She was excited and told me she was going to take care of him, play with him, and change his diaper. I noticed she said "him" so I asked her if she wanted a boy baby or a girl baby. She said she wanted a girl baby. The more we talked about boy and girl babies, she took that to mean we are having more than one baby, so she decided that I could have the boy baby and she could have the girl baby. Oh goodness...
Later, a friend of mine asked Danica if her mommy had a baby in her belly, in which she replied with an abrupt, "NO!" We all changed the subject and I waited for another moment to talk to Danica about babies growing in mommy's tummy. When I told her this, she told me that she didn't want another baby to be in my tummy, that she wanted to be in my tummy. Then she put her hand down my shirt as if to take the baby out of my tummy and threw her fist against her little tummy and said, "baby in my tummy". Oh my...
I decided to talk about the baby in my tummy as much as I could so she would get used to it. I really want to involve Danica as much as I can (because at my age, I'm not sure that I will have another one). She went with us to hear the baby's heartbeat on Monday and really liked that. Since then, she's been announcing proudly to everyone that she is going to be a big sister. By mid-week, she was kissing my tummy; but what happened last night will literally have you rolling on the floor laughing. She walked into the kitchen when I was cooking and said, "mommy, look at me". I turned around and she had a baby doll stuffed in her shirt, while announcing, "I have a baby in my tummy!". I really wish I had the camera ready!
I'm so happy that she is growing more and more excited! She still tells me that she wants a sister and we plan to take her to see the ultrasound in June. I thought about getting a gender reveal cake for her and thought it would be cute way to announce if she is having a sister or brother, but I couldn't stand not letting her be there when we actually get to see the baby. The gender reveal parties are really fun, though. We just went to one for some friends of ours who found out they are having a boy. The reveal was for their parents and they let their mother's cut the cake. It was so fun to see how excited they all were. They are due in September. I have other friends due around the same time as me as well and two close friends that just had babies, so I'm looking forward to all the play dates!
Before I go, here is a picture of BIG SISTER at Easter:

We've got a few trips coming up. We are taking Danica to the Zoo next weekend. We also plan to take her to Water Country in Williamsburg, VA. I want to do as much as I can with Danica before I can't. I still only have a little baby bump and have only gained 4 pounds since I found out I was pregnant. Yay! Now if I can only start eating better and start hitting the gym more! Ha!
