I went to the doctor this week for my 34 week appointment. My fundal height was still measuring at 35 centimeters- thank the Lord. The midwife felt there was no reason to be alarmed right now and made a note in my chart to wait until 38 weeks before doing another ultrasound. Perhaps Maverick had a growth spurt around 28 weeks and now he is slowing down. Let's hope so!
In the meantime, Danica is certainly keeping us on our toes. Age 3 is SO MUCH FUN! She's into Barbie dolls now. Mema collected Barbies when she was a little girl. I mean, it's a serious collection of Barbies. I think she has about 50 of them and NEVER took them out of the box. She's taking them out, now, though! Danica is inheriting those Barbie dolls one by one. We've also bought her a few. Last year, she was really into Princess (what am I talking about, she still is), so we were buying her the Disney princess Barbies. Ariel is her favorite. This year, Mema bought her a couple of Barbie Videos- Mermaid Tales and Princess and Popstar. You can get Barbie dolls from those videos, too, but I got creative. She just has so many Barbies, so when we were at Target last weekend, I bought her a Princess and Popstar GUITAR instead. And being into Barbie dolls has not stopped her from dressing up one bit. She still comes home and strips her clothes off so she can put on a princess dress immediately. Then it's either time to play Barbies or watch a Barbie video... or both most of the time.
Her favorite way to play Barbies is for a Barbie to put on a concert. One of Mema's barbies has a microphone. Each Barbie takes turns singing to the other Barbies. She sings all of her favorite Nursery Rhymes and Vacation Bible School songs. It really is super cute! And when it's time for her to watch her "Popstar" video, she grabs her Hello Kitty Microphone (and now her guitar) and rocks it out. When she wants to watch that video, she literally says to us, "I wanna ROCK." We get our own personal rock concert right in our living room just about every night. It's so much fun!
As far as her extracurricular activities, Danica is still in gymnastics and is now taking a Pre-Ballet class. She loves it! The Ballet class starts at 5 p.m., so we have a retired Mema picking her up early from school to take her. And guess what that means?! Mema had to learn how to put Danica's hair up in a bun. We told her she could probably ask one of her teachers to do it, but Mema was determined to learn on her own. She practiced for a week or so leading up to the first class. 4 classes later, and Mema is a professional. It looks great!
Cooler weather is coming- thank goodness! We're trying to get a few beach trips in before it's too cold to go. Joe and I spent a night over in Wrightsville Beach for our 7th wedding anniversary. We then took Danica on a day trip to Emerald Isle and plan to take her again this coming weekend. Here's our pretty girl at the beach:
I've got 6 more weeks to prepare for Maverick and lots of things to do with Danica before she is no longer an only child! October is one of my favorite months since it marks the beginning of my favorite season! We are planning to take her to the Fair, the Pumpkin Patch; and a Fall Carnival is coming up at her school. All of that, plus baby showers, maternity photos, and a sibling tour at the hospital will make October a busy month for sure!
