18 Months Old

Maverick is 18 months old! He's having so much fun playing and enjoying life. His vocabulary is picking up a bit now. His latest words include bubble, door, sissy, dirt, down, up, and flower.  And if he can't say it, he really tries. I read him a baby animal book that has a skunk in it. It's so funny to hear him try to say Phew! LOL! I've started reading to him every night. We still sing songs, but he loves books. So we go to my bed first to read books and then I take him to his room to rock (well, if we make it... there have been nights when both of us fell asleep and daddy had to take him to his crib). Joe sometimes rocks him at night, too. Funny enough, when Joe rocks him, Maverick wants to hold his baseball. He loves sports and all play includes a ball. He walks around the house with a baseball bat attached to his hand. Did I mention it's pink? (It's Danica's) Ha!

Maverick loves playing outside. He has recently discovered the stairs on the outdoor playset and likes to climb them. Once he is in the playhouse, he just laughs and laughs. And he loves the slide. He used to love swinging, but he doesn't like to be confined to the swing anymore. He's ready to run and get into anything and everything there is to get in to. And the weather is perfect now, so we are outside every night after work with the kids. Whose got time for dinner when it's time to play?!

Maverick still loves his "ba", so he continues to get 4 bottles a day along with his meals and snack. We cut back on the milk since he loves to eat. He loves fruit and is picky about his meats. He's definitely a carb man- loves bread, crackers, cereal, potatoes, pasta- all the good stuff! Still no candy yet (I'm saving the M&M's for potty training), but he loves an occasional ice cream!

He is still doing great at home with Mema. I am looking for a 1/2 day program that he can start when he is 2. I've got our name on a waiting list and will be calling another program soon. Mema's program is still great since she has a Grandma group and they take their grandkids to diferent things. Maverick has made some of the cutest artwork at the library and at Toddler time at Chick-fil-a. She also takes him to see the Puppet lady each week and to Toddler Gym at ECCats. And since she has a "group", he has a group of friends to play with! I know they are having so much fun and mema will never forget this time with her grandkids!

Maverick is a laid back guy. He only really cries when he hurts (when teeth are coming in or he falls down) or when we tell him no. He's got the best laugh and laughs at everything Danica does. Danica just asked me last night, "Maverick likes to copy everything I do, doesn't he?", to which I replied, "he sure does, he loves you and thinks you're great!". And they get along for the most part. Danica is really into "privacy" right now, so she is always telling him she needs privacy. He follows her everywhere and she gets a bit frustrated. But when she wants to play with him or wants to read with him, it's so sweet. And when she takes his hand and says, "come on Maverick", it melts my heart!
