Summertime 2013

As of June 28- Maverick is crawling and has his first tooth! Maverick has been getting up on all fours and then falling back down to scoot across the floor for a little while now, but finally crawled across the floor this past weekend! He is also pulling up on tables. I put him in the kitchen or the foyer and let him play. If I put him in the living room, he heads straight to the coffee table. He pulls up, but he is really wobbly. So if he lets go or tries to hold on with one hand, he falls (we have a rug in the living room). He also likes to pull up on chairs in the dining room and the kid table in the playroom.

Maverick is 28 inches long and weighs 17 pounds now. He is still eating baby food and is now eating puffs, rice krispies, and ritz crackers. Bananas make him break out, so we give him applesauce or peaches for breakfast. And he still loves sweet potatoes. I bought some avacado this weekend, so I'm going to introduce him to that as well. I remember Danica eating avacado when she was a baby. Maybe that's why she loves guacamole as much as we do!

Maverick also loves to play! He claps his hands when we ask him to "pat some cakes". He holds out his right hand and claps it with his left hand. Although he would rather play with things that are not toys- cups, paper, etc; he does play with his piano activity mat, toys that rattle (we have a toy we call "monkey man"), his musical train that spins balls, the spin and crawl ball, and he loves to play with Danica's toys. Danica has become really smart- if he has a toy that she wants, she offers him another toy so she can get it back. Another fun way to play with Maverick is to tickle him. He is ticklish on his side and it is so fun to hear him laugh out loud!

We have taken the kids to the beach a couple of times. Maverick loves the water! He and Danica were playing in the sandbar last weekend. We sat Maverick up in the most shallow part, he loved splashing around in the water. He also tried turning over into the crawling position. I let him do it once and he tried putting his face in the water! Silly boy! He also loves to eat the sand. I never had an issue with Danica eating the sand, but Maverick will grab a handful and put it in his mouth once when we weren't looking. We really have to watch him- he's a mess! We also took the kids to the new water park in Kinston and had a blast. It is the perfect size for small kids. We are going to go again over the holiday weekend with some friends and Danica is really looking forward to it. We are also going to Raleigh this weekend. We need to pick up some furniture we ordered, so we are going to make a day of it and do some shopping. We are also going to visit some friends of ours and meet my Uncle Robert for dinner. I'm definitely looking forward to the short work week and all the fun we have planned!
