Wow! July went by fast- but don’t they all?! July starts
with the BEST holiday- and since July 4 was on a Thursday this year, PCC closed
Friday, too. We stayed in town. I baked an AWESOME cake for two reasons (I have
to state the reasons for those who know I don’t bake): because mommys bake AND
because a red and white layered cake with a blue corner looked really cool and
I just wanted to do it. It didn’t taste bad, either! It was so cool!
We went to Farmville (for the first time) for fireworks. I’m
not sure why I’ve never thought about going to Farmville- but it was really
nice. And since we bumped into my dad and sister (next time call someone to let
them know where you are going to be because they may actually want to join
you), we had a lot of fun. Danica enjoyed playing with her cousins and Aunt
Holly got some snuggle time with Maverick.
Danica went to ballet camp again this month. The theme this
time was “Princess for a Day”; so she got to do what she loves most- dress up
in disney princess dresses! She had the best time.
Have you been to Lion’s Waterpark yet? We went three times
this month. It’s a short trip to Kinston and $10 a person. That’s not bad for a
quick day trip. I love the lazy river and even went down the waterslide one day
(that took me back to my Whichard’s beach days). It’s nice to finally have
something like that close to home.
My family spoiled me for my birthday- I turned 37 this year.
My birthday was on a Saturday this year, so Joe took me to Panera Bread for
breakfast (my favorite). We took Danica downtown and went to the Art Museum,
walked to the Fire Station, went to UBE and the Bicycle Post, and ate at Sup
Dogs. Mema made lasagna for dinner. Joe took Danica to Fresh Market to buy me
some cupcakes. And then my Dad and Step-mom visited us at the house on Sunday.
It was a nice weekend with family.
Other than that, Maverick has two teeth now and is trying to
say “ball”. He LOVES a ball! He waves hello/bye by throwing his arm in the air.
And when he waves with his fingers, he turns his hand to himself so he can
watch his fingers go up and down. He is crawling, pulling up, opening cabinet
doors and drawers, plundering through plastic cups, pulling up on potties and
grabbing tissue paper, pulling up on the shower door in the morning so I can’t
get out, pulling papers off tables, etc. It’s so much fun when they start
moving! He’s still on schedule with his 8:00 bedtime. He isn’t waking as often
at night and we are almost at one feeding overnight instead of two. He is
eating Stage 2 baby food and still wearing size 3 diapers and size 12 clothes.
We keep him in onesies most of the time since it’s so hot now.
We take nightly strolls around the neighborhood after dinner.
We put Maverick in his stroller and Danica usually rides her bike. Joe finally brought the swing set to the
house, so Danica and Maverick can swing and play. And Danica is making so many
new friends.
